Mothers' Union

Here you will find information about our branch of the Mothers' Union.

Mothers’ Union is an international Christian movement supporting families and communities in need in the UK and worldwide since 1876.  Members are active in 84 countries and work tirelessly to serve their communities whilst offering Christian care for families regardless of faith or background.

Llandaff diocese has 2080 members in 80 branches. Our branch here in Maesteg has 44 members. We come together regularly for faith, fellowship and fun.  All that we do is underpinned by prayer and we aim to show God’s love to everyone.  When we are able we come together to fundraise, mainly for the MU caravan in Porthcawl.  The caravan provides holidays for families who are experiencing stress and difficulties  in their lives.

We also support families at Baptism services.  We make up “Baptism Baskets”, including hand knitted blankets, to present to parents during the service.

Mothers’ Union meet on the first Monday of the month, either on Zoom or in St.Michael’s crypt. We also meet one afternoon every month for “Tea and Chat”.  We enjoy trips and visits to different places, always involving lunch or afternoon tea.

New members are always welcome to join us. Please contact Sue Thomas on 01656 734600.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

- Matthew 19:14
