St Cynfelin's Church in Caerau, Maesteg, has been a significant landmark since its construction in 1909-1910. Designed by architect G.E. Halliday, the church was built using pink rock-faced sandstone with Bathstone dressings, featuring a nave with a lean-to south aisle and a lower chancel. Notably, the western façade boasts a rose window and broad flat buttresses, one of which forms the bell gable. The bell itself was cast in 1907 by Charles Carr.
Throughout its history, St Cynfelin's has served as a central place of worship and community gathering in Caerau.
In recent years, there have been efforts to ensure the church remains a vibrant part of the community. A petition was initiated to prevent its closure, highlighting the building's good state of repair and its value to the local population.
Looking ahead, St Cynfelin's Church aims to continue its role as a hub for worship and community activities. The church's ongoing operations reflect a commitment to serving the spiritual and cultural needs of Caerau's residents.
